Mindfulness

Highfields’ Mindfulness and Meditation program is designed to help individuals in any setting. Through various techniques, this program encourages being present in your own life whether it’s at home, in school, or the workplace, to promote a better understanding of your world and how you react to things around.

Here’s how Highfields Mindfulness & Meditation Program can help you…

What is Mindfulness?

The quality or state of being conscious or aware of something.
A mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

Becky Womboldt (She/Her)

After working with children and families for over 15 years as a Licensed Masters Level Social Worker (LMSW), I noticed a common theme of stress and trauma negatively impacting my own life and the lives of those I worked with. When I began practicing mindfulness, a process of healing and nurturing support began. It was at this time that I knew that the way in which I would continue my passion for helping others would now focus on bringing mindfulness and meditation to as many people that I could.

Becky is a certified mindfulness instructor and a Licensed Masters Level Social Worker (LMSW). She has been practicing mindfulness and meditation since 2018 and has completed the 300-Hour Mindful Teacher Certification Program through Mindful Schools, a leading organization in the International Mindfulness Movement. Becky is also a certified instructor of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Teens (MBSR-T) through Gina Biegel, researcher and founder of Stressed Teens. She has also received certification as a Workplace Mindfulness Instructor through Mindful Leader.

Since 2018, Becky has offered mindfulness to youth and adults in various settings including schools, after school programs, community groups, non-profit organizations, businesses, and parent groups. Becky has additional training in the areas of mindful communication and trauma-informed instruction.

Steve Zynda
Highfields Donor

Highfields supporter, Steve Zynda, has been practicing mindfulness and meditation techniques since he was a stressed-out law school student. Zynda had an idea to bring a mindfulness and meditation initiative to Highfields. He met with Highfields’ President and CEO, Brian Philson, to share his vision. Philson took the idea and ran with it.

With Becky Womboldt spearheading the program, Highfields’ staff is being trained on mindfulness and meditation techniques so they can teach clients how to practice in their daily lives. The techniques will enhance treatment for clients and help them cope with challenges.
