Every student celebrates those five exciting words: School’s out for the summer! Our students are no exception!
The Highfields Making Memories summer program is all about summer fun, building social skills, creating awesome memories, and mastering life skills.
Tyler Jones, the Residential Director, is on a mission to lead students through a summer of growth. “We want to give students an opportunity to have experiences around Michigan. Going to museums, sporting events and touring college campuses gives students a look at what is outside of their community and even things in their community that they may have not known was there.”
Highfields kicked off the 2024 Making Memories summer program focusing on social-centered activities for students. This summer, our students had a blast visiting the RE Olds Museum, exploring the MSU campus, hitting the bowling lanes, cheering at a Lugnuts game, and catching a Tigers game. They learned how to tie dye a t-shirt and had an old-fashioned field day on campus. Each event was not just fun, but also a chance for therapeutic growth.
Throughout the day, the Highfields team provided unwavering support and guidance, making sure every student had a fantastic time.
The Making Memories summer program has been a game-changer, boosting communication and social skills among students. It has given them the chance to enjoy unique experiences and has provided our counselors with invaluable insights into student dynamics.
We can’t wait to keep this exciting program going for our students!
